A fusion of Fashion, Dance, & Philanthropy
On September 29, 2018, 8th Count LLC will present “Cultured In NOLA”, our 3rd annual dance production at Cafe Istanbul, from 4:30-6:30 pm. 8th Count is a social dance wear brand that was created as a means to fund scholarships for collegiate artists in need of financial assistance. 8th Count prides itself on enhancing self-love, promoting fitness, encouraging critical thinking, and philanthropy.
A percentage of our annual profits is placed into a scholarship fund that is dispersed to qualified recipients at the beginning of each school year. Thus far, we have had the pleasure of providing a $500 book scholarship to a journalism major at Dillard University for her Fall 2017 semester, so we hope to provide two students with $500 Book Scholarships after "Cultured In NOLA". Our goal for the show is to bring light to this effort, as well as to show how the intersection of the arts is critical in inspiring New Orleanians in our now 300 years of existence!
8th Count has entertained over 300 attendees in our recent productions, so we are hopeful in increasing awareness this year! The show will feature performances by musicians, visual artists, poets, and dancers from around the New Orleans area, as well as wardrobe by local clothing companies. "Cultured In NOLA" will focus on displaying fashion through choreography, whilst also being a medium for other genres of artists to showcase their gifts.
In addition to sounds by DJ Polo, "Cultured In NOLA" will feature exclusive wardrobes provided by Stay Tooned, Aiykon, and Mogul Boutique. There will be performances by singers Rahim Glaspy, and Shak Smith; Poetry by Heaven Thomas ; and The Neaux'La Dancers: Tia B, Christina Ruffins, Taylor Elise, Tai Teamer, Monique Brogan, Derrion Burks, and MiJah Nicole. There were also special performances by Kelly School of Dance and Gymnastics, Destined 2 Dance, POSH Expressions, and Jazzy Fusion Dance Unlimited.
“When you support 8th Count, you are funding college scholarships, and supporting the creativity, and mental health and wellness of youthful artists. Be The Light, Be The Love was a collaboration of artists from across New Orleans for a positive cause.” For additional details, vendor, or sponsorship information, please call (832) 444-0341 or email 8thCountDanceWear@Gmail.Com
